The Village of Glendale Heights has an ethnically diverse population and proud heritage. Originally named Glendale as it was located between Glen Ellyn and Bloomingdale, the name was officially changed to Glendale Heights in 1960. Glendale Heights is best known nationally as the hometown of Smashing Pumpkins founder Billy Corgan.
The Village is located just 23 miles west of the City of Chicago, and a few miles from major highways I-355 and I-88. The Union Pacific train line into the City of Chicago can be accessed a few miles away in neighboring Glen Ellyn and Wheaton.
Glendale Heights has three K-8 school districts: 15, 16, and 41. All three districts feed into Glenbard Township District 87 and use the Glenside Public Library District.
